Understanding mental illness in older adults is crucial for healthcare workers in skilled nursing facilities. Conditions like depression, anxiety, and dementia can significantly impact residents' quality of life. Early detection and proper management improve well-being and prevent complications. This knowledge also enhances communication and relationships with residents and their families.

Online Learning: Mental Health in Older Adults
Welcome to our training module on mental health in older adults. This course covers the aging brain, signs and symptoms of depression and neurological disorders, treatment options, and psychosocial impacts. We'll address major life changes, fear of the future, memory and learning, loss of independence, grief and loss, and ageism and discrimination.
